Yesterday I had one of the best shows ever.
It all started that morning just before six o’clock when my dog heard me turn around in bed. She leapt up and laid her million and one-tonne body on me. I knew it was almost time to get up so I didn’t get too mad at her. I waited for my alarm to sound, which didn’t take too long to happen. My other dog, who slept with my mum, heard it and she came running down to greet me. I got up quickly to pack everything for the show. We had to pick up one of my friends on the way, which made me more excited for the day ahead. When I reached the kitchen, my father was already preparing some coffee. When I wanted to pour myself some, it had barely started to brew, so I decided to get dressed in my jumping attire first. When I finally finished eating, I made sure that we had everything.
After we picked up my friend, we were off to the stables to box. Arriving there, I quickly went to greet M and promised him that if he behaved, he would get the next day (today) off. He boxed really easy along with one of his buddies, Jet Blaster.
Arriving at the show, my friend and I ran to my coach to help unbox the horses. Fortunately, the showgrounds aren’t even 10 minutes drive from the stables, so the horses are calmer to unbox. The place we occupied the previous time was open, and we waited there for a few minutes until my coach told us that the car close to it, could be damaged. We moved the horses to a much nicer spot. It had shade for most of the day. My friend helped me to clean my horse. Mythical Music was calmer on this show than the previous one. I think it is because he is now closer to me and he knows the others better.
When it was finally Mythical’s turn to compete, we saddled him and took him down to the warm-up arena. I let my coach’s son (Damian) warm him up and ride the first class so that we could see how he behaves himself. He was really quiet. When my turn came, I trotted and cantered him over a few jumps. When I entered the arena to “compete”, I was a bit nervous. Weird thoughts went through my head. Will M only be good with Damian?
I had an excellent clear round. Mythical was steady and under control the whole time. When I exited the arena the judges announced the jump-off course. It was actually easier than I thought it would be. It was the first jump-off I have ever jumped. I had to get off again so that Damian could also finish his round on M. In the end, Damian came second on M and I came third.
After M & I took our lap of honour, I walked him back to drink water. I asked my father to enter me in the 70 cm. My father told me not to relax M too much because we still had another class to jump in.
We missed placing by less than a second.
I was (and still am) extremely proud of Mythical Music. I think I now have earned his trust.
